TIME TRAVEL 67 takes an 11th look at Kenny and Bev Coleman’s Betamax tapes this time from Doorslammer meets which were so popular in the 80s kicking off at the Custom Car sponsored Big Yank held at Long Marston in May 1985 including Bert Englefield’s 5-window ‘32, Tony Granston’s 454 American Autoparts Camaro, the Green Onions ‘55 Chevy, Frank Bennett’s Phantasm Pop, Doug Gray’s Bromley Arts 454 Camaro and Clive Mechaell’s Corvette. Then it’s of to Santa Pod in September 1985 and the first Gary’s Doorslammer Nationals which had to be renamed Internationals after a huge field of Scandinavian doorslammers turned up, many staying over from the World Finals. Bjorn Cronquist was there with his Pink Panther ‘65 Chevy Malibu as was the Skinner Bros’ ‘63 Nova, the Bilsport Nova, the ex-Sylvia Hauser Challenger and a wild wheelstanding beach buggy. From the UK was Dave Pollen and his 427 Chevy/Zodiac Pollen Count, Les Szabo’s Hot Metal Cuda, John Doc Claydon’s Big Block Corvette, the ex-Jeff Beck Boston Strangler T Bucket etc, etc........Next it’s October 1986 and back to the Pod for the 2nd Gary’s Doorslammer Internationals and another huge turnout of Scandinavian muscle while the Brits included Dennis Boyle’s Pop, Steve Green’s Cortina, Brian Pateman’s 455 Firebird, the Clifton Bros’ Hot Tomato Opel GT, Dave Warne’s Vega, Tom Laffey’s Manta, Graham Barrs’ Neon Star Pinto, Mark Richard’s Dodge, etc, etc..... Finally it’s 1989 and Doorslammers number 5 including Bjorn Cronquist with his wheelie popping Corvette, Dave Warne and Geoff Hauser’s Sierras, the B & H Autokraft Rover, Lethal Blow, Colin Taylor’s Starlight Camaro, Allan Packman’s 429 Mustang, Dave Pollen’s Manta, etc, etc.............
