TIME TRAVEL 56 is all cine film kicking off at Santa Pod for some qualifying action at the 1976 Easter Springnationals including in Top Fuel Firefly, Stormbringer, Asphalt Alleygator, The Fast Lady and Don Garlits. The Funny Cars of Peter Barnett, Roland Pratt and Dennis Priddle and a bunch of wild altereds including Panic, Dorset Horn, Stripteaser, Wild Honey, Mr Big, The Animal etc etc.... Then it’s a quick visit to the 1977 July Internationals at the Pod including Priddle’s new Monza, the Houndog Duster, Gladiator Vega and John Anderson’s Bilsport Manta Funny Car. On to 1978 and the Easter Springnationals as Raymond Beadle in the Blue Max Mustang takes on the British Funny Cars and Peter Crane shakesdown the new Needle Fueller before Dave Lee Travis gets behind the wheel and Ronnie Picardo has a spectacular engine fire in his Highway Patrol Fueller. Next the September Internationals and Sammy Miller makes his first UK appearance in the Vanishing Point Rocket Funny Car with some 4sec runs and Bjorn Ardin, Martin Hopp, Anders Lantz, Tommy Svensson and Rune Fjeld take on the Brits in Pro Comp. On to Blackbushe where Dennis Priddle in his Funny Car takes on Trevor Young’s Fueller and Liz Burn takes on husband Ollie Burn in Pro Comp. 1979 and back to Santa Pod for the Easter International where Dave Page in Panic and Gerry Andrews in Hemi Hunter come out for the Pro Comp final after blowing away all the Swedes. Then at the May Day Meet Americans Ken Annesley and Marion Owens come out for the Superbike final. Also there Al’s Gasser, Tender Trap, Pumpin Iron, Drag Addict, Liquidator, Sabbath and the DTV Chevette etc etc.... Back to Blackbushe and some Pro Comp action including Ray Hoare’s Turbo Saxon and Alan Rietmeister’s Orpheus. Then it’s the Santa Pod World Series where Norm Wheeldon shutsdown all the heavy hitters in Pro Comp with his home built small block Chevy digger and the Funny Car final sees records broken as Gene Snow runs 6.04 and Raymond Beadle runs 6.00. On to 1980 and a look the largest Funny Car Eliminator seen at Santa Pod including Don Prudhomme at the World Series. Then on to the 1981 World Finals and a look at Pro Comp, Funny Car, the match race Jets and Sammy Miller racing Al Eirdam in their Rockets. Next it’s Blackbushe 1983 as Bob West gets outta shape and rolls Slick Willy then a look at the Big Go and some more action from the ‘bushe in 1984........
