TIME TRAVEL 52 is made up from the cine film taken by Bob Rothwell and Terry Ayers all at Santa Pod and all during the 1971 “Superseason” featuring action from all of the “Big Four” meetings namely the Easter Springnationals, Whitsun Big Go, July Internationals and the August Bank Holiday Nationals. All classes are covered from Street to AA/Fuel including Bob Oram in Red E, Tony Dickson’s GTO, Ed Shaver in his AMX and the Whistler Reliant, Gary Goggin’s SuperVette and Al O’Conner in Rocky II has a race with Dave Stone in his Lotus Cortina. In Competition Altered the Jag/Minis Stripteaser and Poacher come out and run side by side smoky runs, then there’s the wild Metronome 392 Hemi powered Bond Bug and the High Fever Topolino (pic above) which gets a serious case of axle tramp off the line also Alleycat, Stagecoach, Invader, Panic, Wild Honey, Wild Thing, Shutdown, Opus One, Good Vibrations etc etc..... Allan Herridge and Roy Phelps both have a go in the Gloworm Capri and Roy gets the wheels up for the full quarter in the Wheelie Stingray. Dragster division includes the BMC diggers of John Whitmore, Harold Bull and Gerry Cookson, while Wild Bill Weichelt obliterates the start line in tyre smoke driving Asmodeus, then when racing Geronimo he has a diff break off the line and gets out to push it to the finish line to take the win as Geronomo had red lit. There’s plenty of AA/Fuel action as Dennis Priddle in the Hot Wheels fueler takes on Clive Skilton’s 2nd Revolution for some 7 second match ups, also Firefly and Commuter are featured and over from South Africa the Hawaian fueler of Mad Arthur Christy and from Sweden Bjorn Andersson’s Subsonic fueler.
