TIME TRAVEL 26 starts with a look at some photos taken at the B.D.R.& H.R.A. beach party and car show at Greatstone in June 1968 including the Hustler team cars, Commuter, Gold Rush and a beauty contest. Then some slides from 1972 - ‘73 followed by cine film taken by Roy Cockrill at Santa Pod starting in October 1973 including Snoopy,(pictured above) Satans Toy, Clunk Click, Money Hungry and the Stardust and Houndog Funny Cars trying to get some grip on the damp strip. Then on to 1974 and the August Supernationals featuring the Wheelie Truck and the Wheelie Stingray and not wanting to be left out Owen Hayward puts the Houndog Funny Car on it’s rear bumper while racing the S.T.P. Avenger. Also some altered action including Trakshun Akshun and Poacher II. Next some Funny Car action from 1975 including the Hillbillies Reliant and then on to the 1976 Springnationals and an 8 car Top Fuel field including Don Garlits filmed from the top end. Then on to October 1976 for the Tor Line Funny Car finals where John Andersson qualified top of the pile with a 6.63 using a beam cheating front spoiler. The following day Dennis Priddle in the Avenger II ran a 6.49 in the first round and yes he too now had a beam cheating spoiler fitted. Also the Fire In’jun,(pictured above) and Svante Eriksson with his 426 Hemi Jeep. On to 1977 and the return of Don Garlits who beats Roz Prior in the final, also Henk Vink’s Big Spender Kawasaki and Norm Wilding’s Pieces of Eight Zodiac.
