TIME TRAVEL 23 is made up of cine film and photos taken by Brian Sparrow who helped to get drag racing off the ground in this country and was part of the Dragster Developments team along with Allan Herridge, John Harrison and Robin Evermy. It starts with a look at Brian Witty’s Chrysler dragster on the way to Long Marston in 1962 and then some build up shots of the D-D Buick, Allan Herridge’s first dragster and some cine film of it’s first runs at Debden in March 1963. Then some more cine film taken at a couple of N.S.A. bike sprint meetings and a car and bike sprint meeting at Long Marston in June 1963 where Allan Herridge and Sydney Allard ran their dragsters. Next it’s on to Silverstone as Allan Herridge enters his dragster along with Tony Densham in the Worden, Sydney Allard’s Chrysler and Dante Duce in Mooneyes, then more cine film from Debden as Mickey Thompson joins in with the Harvey Aluminium Special AA/Fueler. On to 1964 and more cine film as the D-D Team test the D-D Buick at Ruislip with a blower fitted, then a B.D.R.A. practice meeting at Graveley where John Harrison ran the D-D Atlantic dragster and Dennis Jenkinson tries for an II second run in the works Allard Dragon (pictured above) Back to Graveley in August as Peter Bartlett runs his ‘57 Chevy and John Bennett waves the flags to encourage some of the die-hard sprinters to drag race. Then it’s on to the International Drag Festivals as the D-D team enter all 6 rounds and Brian Sparrow catches the action on cine film. Next a few build up photos of the D-D Cadillac dragster, some cine film from the first Graveley practice meet in 1965 including Jeff Theobold’s Jag slingshot and finally back to Graveley in June for the debut of the D-D Cadillac (pictured above) and also the Croft Drag Racing Partnership bring out their Allard Dragon, A.C. Cobra, and recently imported Dos Palmos gas dragster.....
